The Canadian Red Cross and the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Law hosted a half-day conference exploring how international humanitarian law protects aid workers during armed conflict on March 15, 2017. This event included a discussion with a panel of experts from the Judge Advocate General (JAG), the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Canadian Red Cross. The speakers touched upon issues relating to types of conflict, who is protected, accountability for violations of the law, and other challenges to the protection of aid workers during armed conflicts. The Canadian Council on International Law (CCIL) sponsored a post-conference coffee social.
